Covid Diaries III - Too much, or too little ?

Updated: Jun 29, 2020

I am so fed up of being cooped in my house. After so many weeks now, I can’t find motivation to do just anything.  The adventures in the kitchen don’t excite me anymore. No new art- craft ideas. I am running out of meaningful conversations even with the people around me. Netflix , overdose. Webinars, feel so ..blah. Zoom meetings, really? Okay, not too bad. But the human connect is simply irreplaceable. It is increasingly difficult to manage things with limited help, and constrained access to supplies. What’s building up, is anxiety and restlessness. The uncertainty of our future. Just can’t wait for these horrible times to pass.

I need enthusiasm, want to physically get out there and do some work,  socialise , travel places , hit the gym , go shopping , enjoy my salon time, lunches at new joints, coffee meets, watch movies in a theatre, go Friday night partying with my crazy bunch and embrace the weekend like a real Weekend.

Are some of these amongst your current  thoughts, too?

If yes, I feel you.

While we are at it, just look at some parallel realities the world is witnessing, in the wake of the pandemic ; the fear psychosis, the suffering of the infected, the worrying families of the infected, the plight of caregivers, the burden on frontliners, the grief of people forced towards shutting businesses, the helplessness of people who lost their jobs just like that, the agony of migrant workers walking miles to their homes, the fate of people living in conditions where even physical distancing is a luxury. And in Bengal, the added horror of the devastating cyclone.

Now, let’s ask ourselves again... do you and I really have a problem? Or is it a temporary diversion from our ‘normal’ ? An unwanted, disturbing diversion. If we are fortunate enough to be skimming through social media at this point and not worry about our next month supplies, I would like to presume, let’s say I definitely know, that we are in a pretty good space.

Let us Count our Blessings, and Be Grateful.
